Aston Martin, following a successful string of sports car releases and a significant SUV revamp, has unveiled the Valhalla, a groundbreaking mid-engine supercar touted as the “ultimate driver’s car.” This marks a significant milestone for the British automaker, representing their first foray into mid-engine series production and a bold statement of their commitment to performance and innovation. CEO Adrian Hallmark emphasizes Valhalla’s unique proposition: a driver-focused, technologically advanced supercar that delivers hypercar performance while maintaining the usability and enjoyment synonymous with the Aston Martin brand. The Valhalla’s exterior design language represents a new era for Aston Martin. While retaining the brand’s signature uncorrupted lines, the car incorporates active aerodynamics for enhanced downforce, a testament to its performance-driven DNA. Forward-hinged dihedral doors add a dramatic flair, while the rear features quad exhaust pipes nestled beneath Venturi tunnels, leaving a lasting impression. Powering the Valhalla is a sophisticated plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) powertrain. The heart of the system is a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine, complemented by a 6 kilowatt-hour battery and three electric motors. This combination delivers a staggering 1,064 horsepower and 811 pound-feet of torque, channeled through a new eight-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT) – another first for Aston Martin. The PHEV system allows for up to 8.7 miles of all-electric driving at speeds up to 80 mph, offering a glimpse into the future of high-performance motoring while delivering blistering performance figures. The 0-62 mph sprint is achieved in a mere 2.5 seconds, placing the Valhalla in the same league as other hypercar titans.
The Valhalla offers a range of driving modes to cater to different scenarios. Sport mode serves as the default, providing a balanced blend of performance and efficiency. Drivers can also select Pure EV mode for all-electric driving, Sport+ for heightened performance, or Race mode to unleash the car’s full potential on the track. Customers can personalize their Valhalla with various carbon fiber finishes, including gloss or satin lacquer, and choose from a range of tints. Six livery themes inspired by Aston Martin’s motorsport heritage are also available, allowing owners to further express their individuality. Limited to just 999 units, with production slated to begin in the second quarter of 2025, the Valhalla promises to be a highly coveted and exclusive supercar, with an estimated price tag of around $1 million.
