Smiley face
Weather     Live Markets

Temperatures may be falling, but the drama in Salem is just beginning to boil. Days of our Lives has released its fall sizzle reel, and it promises exactly what longtime fans crave: family secrets, old wounds, dangerous new arrivals, and the kind of romantic tension that makes you want to shout at your screen. The preview opens with Dominic Marino, played by Kyle Pryor, stepping into the spotlight in a way that makes it clear he is not here to blend in. His first scene is a direct confrontation with EJ DiMera, and his words couldn’t be more loaded. “EJ DiMera, we meet at last,” he says, with a smile that doesn’t quite reach his eyes. “I’m Dominic Marino. Hello, brother.” Just like that, the entire landscape of Salem shifts. A brother nobody knew existed, a surname that doesn’t match, and a calm, almost casual delivery that suggests Dominic has been waiting for this moment for a long time. It’s impossible to know exactly what his game is yet, but the show makes it clear that this isn’t going to be a polite family reunion. Xander Kiriakis is immediately on edge, and his nervous question becomes the heartbeat of the trailer: “What is he doing in Salem? What does he want from our family?” Those are the questions fans are asking too. And, as if the arrival of a mystery brother isn’t enough, the preview confirms that the police may be involved. For better or worse, Dominic may be up to no good, but he’s not about to tell anyone what he’s really planning. He’d rather keep everyone guessing, and that’s exactly what makes him so dangerous. In a town where the DiMera family has survived decades of betrayals and power plays, the idea of another sibling suddenly appearing out of thin air is enough to send chills down anyone’s spine. The way Dominic says “brother” is not warm or welcoming; it’s a challenge, a quiet declaration that he knows something no one else knows. And in Salem, knowledge is the most dangerous weapon of all.

If there is one person who seems determined to get some answers from Dominic, it’s Theo Carver. Tyler Andrews’s Theo has always been one of Salem’s more thoughtful characters, and when he sits down with Dominic, he doesn’t waste time on small talk. He cuts straight to the heart of the matter and asks, “What did my grandfather send you here to do?” It’s a question that suggests Dominic isn’t acting alone, or at least that there’s a powerful figure behind his arrival. But Dominic is too clever to answer directly. Instead of admitting anything, he turns the question around on Theo and says, “You’re asking the wrong question. The correct question is, ‘What do I intend to do?’” That line is classic Salem villainy at its finest. It tells us that Dominic doesn’t care much about orders or family expectations, or at least he wants us to believe that. He wants to be seen as his own man, someone with his own motives, his own plans, and his own scores to settle. That is far more terrifying than any errand boy. If he were simply doing someone else’s bidding, maybe there would be a way to predict his next move. But Dominic is playing by his own rules, and that means everyone in Salem is a potential target. The police may be involved, but law enforcement rarely slows down someone who has already decided what he wants. And Dominic has definitely decided. He’s just not sharing. It’s the unknowability of him that makes the whole town nervous, and it should make fans nervous too. Because in a place like Salem, a person with a hidden agenda can cause more damage than a hurricane. There is something almost theatrical about the way he speaks, as if he enjoys the suspense as much as the resolution. He doesn’t want to simply win; he wants to make an entrance, to leave people guessing, to remind everyone that he is in control of his own story. That kind of confidence is rare, and in the world of Daytime drama, it usually means trouble is just around the corner.

Perhaps the people who should be most concerned are Xander Kiriakis and Sarah Horton-Kiriakis. This couple has been through more than most, and just when it seems like they might finally catch a break, the sky falls. In one of the most tense scenes in the fall preview, Leo Stark, played with relish by Greg Rikaart, shows up with news that is enough to make anyone’s blood run cold: “Chicago P.D. is headed to Salem tomorrow to arrest you for first-degree murder.” Let that sink in. First-degree murder. That’s not a parking ticket; it’s an accusation that could destroy everything Xander has tried to build. Sarah, who has already endured so much heartbreak and loss, hears this devastating warning and doesn’t flinch. Instead of running for the hills, she moves closer to her husband and says, “I feel safer with you. I’m not going anywhere.” It’s a moment of devotion that cuts through all the chaos and reminds us why we root for this pair. Xander’s response is just as raw. “These people can track me down,” he admits. He isn’t pretending to be invincible. He knows that the past has a way of catching up, and that murder charges don’t just disappear because you’re in love. But he also knows that he and Sarah are stronger together than they are apart. It’s the kind of loyalty that defines the best soap opera romances. Danger doesn’t break them; it binds them. And even though Leo’s warning is delivered with his usual flair for the dramatic, it feels terrifyingly real. There is no villain as scary as the law when it comes after you with everything it’s got. But Xander and Sarah have never been the kind of people to give up without a fight, and they’re certainly not going to start now. Their love story has always been about survival, and that never ends well for their enemies. The writers are clearly giving fans something to hold onto here: the idea that even in the middle of a nightmare, true love can be a shelter. It may not be enough to stop the police, but it’s enough to keep two people standing side by side when the world tries to tear them apart.

Season 62 of Days of our Lives is shaping up to be one for the books. The show, which is already streaming daily on Peacock and has been renewed for season 63, continues its tradition of weaving together the lives, love stories, and suspenseful adventures of Salem’s most unforgettable families. There’s the Horton clan, the Bradys, the Kiriakises, the Hernandezes, and, of course, the DiMeras. These are the names that have carried the show for decades, and their histories are full of both warmth and warfare. The new trailer captures that spirit perfectly with a voiceover that declares, “All great houses fall from within. Bloodlines blur, loyalty is tested and home is where the heart breaks. In Salem, no house stands for long.” It’s a moody, beautiful, and slightly ominous promise, and it rings true in almost every scene of the preview. Dominic Marino’s arrival feels like exactly the kind of “inside job” that the trailer is talking about. He’s not storming the gates; he’s walking through the front door and making himself at home. That’s what makes him so unsettling. The DiMera empire has crumbled and rebuilt itself so many times that its foundation is practically made of secrets. But a new brother, a hidden agenda, and a family that loves to keep its cards close to its chest are a recipe for disaster. The show is clearly leaning into the idea that the most dangerous threats are the ones that come from family. It’s a theme that has always worked on Days, because it’s a universal truth. We hurt the people we love the most, and the sins of the past don’t stay buried no matter how hard we try to forget them. With the promise of shifting bloodlines and tested loyalties, the season is setting up a series of confrontations that could change the power structure in Salem forever. For longtime viewers, that kind of upheaval is exactly what makes the show irresistible.

Dominic isn’t the only complication on the horizon. The fall preview also checks in with Chad DiMera and Belle Black. Chad is in the middle of trying to convince Belle that he is truly, completely, and finally over Cat Greene. AnnaLynne McCord’s Cat has been a source of trouble for a while, and Chad’s credibility on the subject is, to put it mildly, a little shaky. Belle, played by Martha Madison, listens to his reassurances with the kind of expression that says she wants to believe him but isn’t quite sure she can. Spoiler alert: Belle has her hesitations. And honestly, who can blame her? In Salem, “it’s over” often means “it’s about to get a lot more complicated.” Trust is a fragile thing in this town, and Chad’s words are going to need to be backed up by actions if he wants to win her over. Meanwhile, there is a lighter, sweeter moment in the midst of all the chaos. Abe Carver, played by James Reynolds, has a proposition for Paulina Price, played by Jackée Harry. He looks at her with all the warmth and hope in the world and asks, “Would you like to move back in?” It’s a reminder that not every story in Salem has to be dark and dangerous. Sometimes the drama is about second chances, about finding your way back to the person who makes you feel at home. And then, just when you think the trailer has shown all its cards, Orpheus shows up. George DelHoyo’s Orpheus has always been one of Salem’s most menacing villains, and his return is wrapped in mystery. “I’ve been expecting you,” he teases, with a look that could mean either an old friend or an old enemy is about to walk through the door. “The truth is beyond your wildest dreams.” Those words are a promise, a warning, and a cliffhanger all in one. Orpheus never says anything simple, and the truth he’s talking about is probably the kind that will blow the town wide open.

At the end of the day, Days of our Lives is more than just a soap opera. It’s a place where viewers can escape into a world that is somehow both completely over-the-top and deeply human. The characters make mistakes, huge ones. They love too hard, lie too easily, and forgive too slowly. But they also fight for each other. They stand by the people they love when the entire world is crashing down around them, the way Sarah stands beside Xander even when a murder charge is hanging over his head. They reach for second chances the way Abe reaches for Paulina. They wrestle with their own doubts the way Belle wrestles with hers. And they face the unknown the way Salem is facing Dominic Marino. The new fall storyline has all the ingredients that have kept the show alive for generations: secrets, betrayals, impossible romance, and the constant reminder that home is never simple. “Home is where the heart breaks,” the trailer says, and that might be the truest line in all of Salem. Because the people we love are the people who can hurt us the most, and the families we belong to are the ones who know exactly where to strike. But they are also the people who will never leave us. That’s why fans keep coming back, and that’s why the show keeps thriving. As the real weather gets colder, Salem is getting steamier. New episodes stream weekdays on Peacock, and with season 63 already on the horizon, there is no shortage of stories left to tell. So grab your favorite blanket, pour yourself something warm, and get ready. In Salem, the temperature isn’t the only thing that’s dropping. Hearts are being broken, secrets are being uncovered, and the truth is only a scene away.
