In an era where the boundary between technology and genuine human interaction is constantly being redrawn, the fitness industry is experiencing a quiet revolution. At the heart of this transformation is the fundamental truth that local gyms, yoga studios, and wellness centers are built on community, trust, and physical presence. However, the modern reality of running these businesses is often bogged down by an endless barrage of administrative tasks, missed phone calls, unreturned emails, and late-night customer inquiries that pull staff away from what they do best: connecting with members. Recognizing this friction, Seattle-based startup Replify set out to build an elegant technological bridge that ensures no customer interaction is ever lost in the shuffle. On Monday, the tech world and fitness industry alike witnessed a major milestone in this journey, as the Dallas-based industry giant ABC Fitness officially announced its acquisition of Replify. By integrating Replify’s groundbreaking agentic artificial intelligence platform into its massive ecosystem, ABC Fitness aims to reshape how wellness brands worldwide communicate with their members. While the financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed, the transaction signals a powerful shift toward highly personalized, AI-driven operations that seek to put the “human” back into the hospitality of health and fitness.

The story of Replify is a masterclass in modern entrepreneurship, originating from deep professional relationships and a shared vision of making business operations smoother. Founded in 2023 under the initial name “heyLibby” by CEO Tony Small and CTO Anna Rodriguez, the startup thrived on the collaborative chemistry of its creators. Both Small and Rodriguez had previously honed their leadership and technical skills at the digital real estate platform Zillow. This shared history caught the attention of Spencer Rascoff, the co-founder and former CEO of Zillow, who recognized the immense potential of their vision. Rascoff joined heyLibby as a co-founder, investor, and strategic advisor, incubating the burgeoning startup out of his Los Angeles-based venture firm and incubator, 75 & Sunny Labs. Over the course of three years, the company matured, eventually rebranding to Replify as its core technology grew more powerful and sophisticated. The team’s relentless focus on solving tangible operational bottlenecks attracted significant venture capital, culminating in an impressive $4.5 million seed funding round in April 2025. Led by the French venture firm Aglae Ventures and the Silicon Valley-based Vertical Venture Partners, this round brought Replify’s total funding to $6.7 million, setting the stage for their rapid scaling and ultimately paving the way for their acquisition by a global industry titan.

At the core of Replify’s appeal is its pioneering work in “agentic AI,” a sophisticated class of artificial intelligence that goes far beyond the predictable, frustrating scripts of traditional, first-generation chatbots. Instead of simply regurgitating pre-programmed FAQs, Replify’s AI agents possess the capacity to understand context, exhibit agency, and proactively manage complex communication flows across voice calls, text messages, emails, and live chats. These digital assistants are designed to handle both inbound customer service inquiries and proactive, outbound marketing campaigns, allowing health clubs to engage with prospects the exact moment they show interest. What also makes Replify exceptionally valuable on a global scale is its remarkable linguistic versatility. The platform comfortably supports approximately 35 distinct languages for voice interactions and more than 100 languages for text and chat exchanges. This multilingual capability means that a boutique fitness studio in Miami, a bustling climbing gym in Tokyo, or a wellness retreat in Munich can provide instant, culturally nuanced, and grammatically flawless support to their diverse customer bases without needing to hire an army of multilingual front-desk staff.

By joining forces with ABC Fitness, Replify’s cutting-edge AI is being injected straight into the nervous system of the global wellness industry. ABC Fitness is not just a participant in the fitness technology space; it is an undisputed titan, serving as the software backbone for more than 30,000 businesses across more than 100 countries, collectively managing a staggering 40 million gym members. Even before the acquisition, the two companies shared an impressive roster of mutual clients, including household fitness brands like Gold’s Gym, UFC Gym, and Club 24. For these major operators, the consolidation of their core management software with Replify’s intelligent communication tools is a major victory. The integration promises to eliminate the friction points of operating disjointed third-party software systems, allowing gym owners to manage memberships, process payments, schedule classes, and execute automated, highly intelligent marketing and retention campaigns all from a single, unified database. Tony Small summarized this strategic synergy beautifully, noting that Replify was built from the ground up to ensure fitness operators are present at every single moment a member or prospect is ready to engage, thereby capturing demand and fueling growth with far less manual overhead.

While corporate acquisitions can often feel cold and transactional, the transition of Replify into the ABC Fitness family highlights a deep respect for the human talent that built the technology. The entire 12-member Replify team will be making the transition to Join ABC Fitness, which boasts a global workforce of nearly 2,000 employees. Rather than being absorbed and diluted into a massive corporate structure, the founders are taking on critical, high-impact leadership roles to steer the future of the combined company’s technology strategy. Tony Small will assume the role of Senior Vice President of AI Strategy, while Anna Rodriguez will take on the mantle of Vice President of Engineering, with both reporting directly to ABC Fitness’s President, Khal Rai. In her remarks regarding the acquisition, Rodriguez emphasized that their primary mission at ABC Fitness will be to lead the development of the “agentic layer” within ABC’s Intelligent Operating System. This means that instead of Replify existing as an auxiliary add-on, its proactive, conversational intelligence will become a foundational element of how ABC Fitness’s entire software suite operates, helping the company continue to pioneer agentic AI capabilities on a massive, global scale.

Ultimately, this acquisition serves as an inspiring reminder of how advanced technology can be leveraged to enhance, rather than replace, genuine human connection in our physical worlds. The true magic of artificial intelligence in a wellness setting is its ability to liberate human staff from the tyranny of glowing screens and administrative backlog. When a digital AI agent is seamlessly handling late-night membership cancellations, answering routine billing questions in dozens of different languages, and nurturing new leads, the physical staff at the gym are finally free to lift their heads up, smile, and look their members in the eye. They can focus on correcting a member’s form, leading an energetic group class, offering words of encouragement, and building the vibrant, real-world communities that keep people coming back to the gym day after day. As the Seattle-born startup Replify begins its new chapter within the expansive global framework of ABC Fitness, the future of the fitness industry looks not only smarter and more efficient, but wonderfully more human.
