Kandi Krush stands as one of the most intimidating and formidable forces within the electrifying world of Women of Wrestling (WOW). Fans know her as a powerhouse, a woman who has fought her way to the top of the roster and claimed championship gold. Alongside her allies in the faction known as Top Tier, she once held the WOW World Trios Championship, a testament to her dominance and strategic cunning within the squared circle. However, the world of professional wrestling is as much about betrayal and drama as it is about athleticism, and Krush has proven she is a master of both. In a shocking turn of events that has become a defining moment in her career, she and her partner Coach Campanelli turned their backs on their third member, Gloria Glitter. The brutal and decisive ejection of Glitter from the group shattered their alliance and solidified Krush’s reputation as a fierce, ruthless competitor who will stop at nothing to maintain her position at the top.

Yet, the path that led Krush to this pinnacle of success in professional wrestling was anything but a straight line. It was a journey riddled with shattered dreams, unexpected detours, and formidable obstacles that would have broken a lesser spirit. Before she ever set foot in a wrestling ring, Krush was an elite athlete with her sights set on the ultimate sporting achievement: the Olympics. She was a hopeful in the incredibly demanding and graceful sport of synchronized swimming, a discipline that requires a unique blend of athleticism, artistry, and relentless dedication. However, the dream of Olympic glory was not to be. A combination of debilitating injuries and what she candidly describes as a “toxic environment” in the sport brutally stripped that ambition away from her. It was a devastating blow, a moment where the future she had envisioned for herself suddenly vanished above the water’s surfaceais, leaving her gasping for direction.

Instead of succumbing to despair, Krush summoned an incredible inner strength that would come to define her entire career. “My dreams were essentially kind of stripped from me,” she admitted in a recent interview, “But at the same time, I took control over my own future and decided to just pivot. Anytime something bad has happened in my life or, you know, ‘bad’ because, really, it’s just like a lesson and maybe like a sign to switch gears, but I pivoted. I pivoted to boxing.” This profound resilience is a core part of her character. She refused to let a setback define her, instead choosing to channel her intense work ethic into a new, more individualistic combat sport. The world of boxing proved to be a natural fit for her explosive power and relentless drive. She dedicated herself wholly to the craft, and her hard work paid off as she compiled an undefeated record as a professional boxer, feeling the rush of the crowd and the bright lights of the big stage that she so craved., and it seemed she had finally found her new calling in the ring.

But just as she had established herself in the world of boxing, fate threw another devastating curveball her way: the global COVID-19 pandemic. The shutdown that swept the world brought the sport of boxing to a standstill, closing the gyms that were her sanctuary and putting her burgeoning career on indefinite hold. This forced period of reflection, which she likened to being hit by a “punch from Mike Tyson,” could have spelled the end of her athletic ambitions. Instead, it became a pivotal moment of self-discovery. Isolated and with plenty of time to think, Krush began to reassess what it was she truly wanted. She knew she loved performing under the bright lights. She loved the energy of a live crowd and the spectacle of competition. Boxing had given her that, but she was looking for a new avenue to express her talents Morgens and to continue her quest for the big stage. Inspiration struck while watching a movie starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnsonikuha. The movie sparked an idea, a new target for her immense ambition: professional wrestling.

Krush had never been a die-hard wrestling fan in her youth, but she saw an undeniable opportunity to combine her athletic ability, her love of performance, and her relentless drive. She made the decision to pour her entire heart and soul into this new path, even though the possibility of failure was very real. She learned about a tryout hosted by WOW and arrived with a fire in her eyes. Her determination was so fierce that she showed up before anyone else, even beating the co-founder David McLane to the venue. “Even if they call me to tell me that I’m cut, like not to show up the next day, I’m going to show up. Like, you can’t tell me no. Tell me I can’t, I’ll show you I can,” she said, encapsulating her defiant and unyielding spirit. She was first in and last out, absorbing the training, studying the history of professional wrestling, and downloading the entire encyclopedia of moves and psychology into her brain and body. She never looked back, and her dedication paid off as she rapidly ascended the ranks within WOW.

Krush attributes her remarkable resilience to a potent cocktail of determination, a burning desire to prove doubters wrong, and the core values instilled in her by her mother. She rejects the notion of failure, instead viewing every setback as a lesson and an opportunity for growth. “Failure is part of the journey, but in general, I don’t like to lose by quitting,” she explained. “You fail, you learn. No losses, only lessons. That’s what we say in boxing. And I hold that true in everything I do.” This philosophy has been tested time and again, and she credits it for her ability to overcome the disappointments of her past and power through the grueling demands of her new career. She sees obstacles not as roadblocks, but as invitations to learn, adapt, and climb higher. It is this relentless, almost stubborn, refusal to be denied that has become her signature in the ring, making her a terrifying opponent who never knows when to stay down.

While personal glory and championship gold are certainly motivations, a deeper purpose now fuels Krush’s fire. She is driven by a profound desire to inspire, a mission she discovered in a moment of vulnerability inside the ring. She recalled a title shot early in her career where she was badly injured, laying on the canvas with what she believed was a broken arm and unable to unleash her signature “KO Krusher” finishing move. In that moment of pain and doubt, her eyes found a small girl in the crowd who was yelling, “Get up, Kandi Krush. You can do it. You can win.” That simple, innocent act of belief from a fan resonated with her on a deep level and reframed her entire purpose. “She believes in me. I gave her a reason to believe. And if she sees me get up and keep moving forward, then she’ll remember that too, that moment, and somewhere down the line when she’s essentially laying on the canvas in life, she’ll hopefully find the strength to get up and keep fighting.” This realization transformed her ambition, turning her into a vehicle for inspiration, showing people that they too can overcome their own personal struggles, no matter how insurmountable they may seem.

Today, Kandi Krush carries that inspiration into every match, armed with the powerful message that resilience is a choice. “And that’s why I do what I do. I’ve always hoped for a platform where I can inspire the world to move mountains, one person at a time, even,” she said, her voice filled with emotion. She finally feels she has found her true home with WOW, a platform that not only showcases her physical prowess but also her deep-seated desire to move people. Her journey is a powerful testament to the fact that a broken dream doesn’t have to be the end of the story; it can be the beginning of an even more spectacular one. WOW, co-owned by Los Angeles Lakers minority owner Jeanie Buss, is entering its fifth season, and its mission is more potent than ever. Under Buss’s increasingly involved leadership, the company is firmly dedicated to providing a premier platform for women in sports and entertainment, and productions have moved to L.A. Live in Los Angeles. For Krush, this platform is everything. It is the culmination of her struggles and her triumphs, the stage from which she can continue to “move mountains, one person at a time,” proving that with enough heart and grit, anyone can rise from the canvas of life and claim victory.
