The governor of the Federal District Rocha signed a decree that reduces career promotion time and allows for the rise of a thousand military police officers. The measure which reduces the time of interstice for promotion, was published in the Official Gazette and is valid immediately. In addition 60 students will also be invited to the Military Training Course (CFO 25) of the PM.

The call for new cadets must take place in January and the duration of the course is 3 years. The government claims that the changes are taking place to strengthen careers in the security area. Since 2019, 3.5 thousand servers have been called up in the security area.

The numbers are part of a survey carried out since June 2020 by the Department of Monitoring and Inspection of the Prison System and the CNJ’s Social and Educational Measures Execution System (DMF).

The monitoring is supported by the Making Justice program a partnership between the Council and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and support from the Ministry of Justice and Public Security.

According to the DF government, “the gap is valid for the Staff of Military Police Officers – QOPM, Post of First Lieutenant; Staff of Military Police Health Officers QOPMS (Doctor), Post of First Lieutenant and Staff of Administrative Military Police Officers QOPMA, Second Lieutenant Post”.

With the decision, the promotion time drops by 50%. It is the second action of its kind this year. In August, 3,000 soldiers were promoted. The government is working to try to beat a record reduction in homicides, and have the lowest crime rate in Brasília since 1980.

According to the agency, there was a slowdown in the vaccination of this portion of the population in the first half of December. According to information passed on to the CNJ, there was a 06% growth in the total doses applied in the last 15 days.
