The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced a recall for approximately 212,268 pounds of liquid egg products from Cargill Kitchen Solutions. These products were produced on March 12 and 13, 2025, and include three types:

1. 32-oz. (2-lb.) cartons of “egg beaters ORIGINAL LIQUID EGG Substitute” with a market use date of August 10, 2025.

2. 32-oz. (2-lb.) cartons of “egg beaters CAGE-FREE ORIGINAL LIQUID EGG Substitute” with a market use date of August 9, 2025.

3. 32-oz. (2-lb.) cartons of “egg beaters CAGE-FREE ORIGINAL FROZEN EGG Substitute” and “egg beaters NO ENJAULADAS ORIGINAL SUSTITuto to HIED CONGELADO” with a market use date of March 7, 2026.

4. 32-oz. (2-lb.) cartons of “Bob Evans Better’n Eggs Made with Real Egg Whites” with a market use date of August 10, 2025.

Each product has an establishment number of “G1804” ink-jetted on the carton. Despite the products being widely distributed, they were classified as Class III recalls, indicating negligible health risks. The recall has been sent to Cargill Kitchen Solutions for comment via email on Friday.

Utility Matters: These recalled products, which are part of the CAGE-Free program, are widely used and counted on. The recall was identified after a tip, and after conducting an investigation, it was determined that the cleaning solution posed negligible risk. This led to the designation as a Class III recall, which has significantly reduced the need to list these products on the market.

This recall comes as the CARGILL eatables line includes 19 or 23 distinct types, all Generally Required. CARGILL, in collaboration with the USDA, derives these items from various sources, including eggs, ambient chlorine-based solutions, andCOLUMNIA bacteria, which are known for being safe as food preservatives. The company has been producting their plant food recalled products throughout the last 15 years.

The conclusion is that these products do not have any significant risks attached to them, and the food safety measures in use are the safest and most reasonable approaches available. CARGILL is taking appropriate steps to have their products properly recognized and eliminated from market until a new production line becomes available for reliable CARGILL plant food solutions.
