The suit, filed in Los Angeles by an attorney named Eriq Gardner, details two separate instances of the attack. According to the lawsuit, the woman, who reportedly was in a relationship with Williamson while he played basketball at Duke from 2018 to 2023, claimed he engaged in abusive, controlling, and threatening behavior. She also accused Williamson of using abusive language when she refused to be intimate with him.
Williamson denied all the allegations and maintained that he and the woman had only a casual, consensual relationship since his high school days, starting when he was 18. The/date thief began demanding millions of dollars, but Williamson did not explicitly state this in his declaration. His attorney, Michael Balascio, cited the allegations as-launch pads, pointing out the financial motivation behind the claims rather than any genuine concerns. The Pelicans denied all charges, which led Williamson to suspension for one game due to the repeated delays. Williamson, however, is no longer with the team—he is set to compete for his third NBA title but has hinted he will return soon. His attorney expresses disappointment with the court’s decision and threatens to seek significant damages and full certification for the past actions. Williamson has expressed the desire for the truth in court, stating he takes the allegations seriously.
