Team USA Excited as Trump Plans to Attend Ryder Cup

The upcoming Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black will welcome a high-profile spectator on its opening day as former President Donald Trump plans to attend, generating enthusiasm among Team USA members. This marks Trump’s third sporting event appearance this month in the New York metro area, following his attendance at the men’s U.S. Open final on September 7 and a New York Yankees game against the Detroit Tigers on September 11.

Team USA members have expressed their excitement about Trump’s attendance, with Scottie Scheffler and Keegan Bradley both speaking positively about the former president coming to what’s known as the “People’s Country Club.” Bryson DeChambeau, who has a personal connection with Trump through his YouTube channel, seems particularly enthusiastic. “I hope he will inspire us to victory. I think he’ll be a great force for us to get a lot of people on our side,” DeChambeau told reporters, adding that Trump’s presence would create “an electric environment” at the prestigious golf tournament.

DeChambeau’s relationship with Trump extends beyond the golf course. Last year, the two-time U.S. Open champion featured Trump in one of his “Breaking 50” YouTube videos, which became his most popular upload with over 16 million views. The video was filmed shortly before the first assassination attempt on Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania. Later, Trump invited DeChambeau on stage during his victory speech last November, further cementing their public association. When Team USA captain Bradley was asked about Trump’s attendance, he confirmed that the former president would be present at the first tee, scheduled for 7:10 a.m. ET.

When questioned by Fox News Digital last year about possible regrets over making content with Trump, given the potential political implications, DeChambeau was straightforward in his response: “Not at all.” He clarified that while he recognized the risks associated with featuring a polarizing political figure, his intention was purely entertainment-focused. “We can talk about politics — that’s a whole different conversation, something that I was not trying to do on my YouTube channel, it was solely on providing great entertainment,” DeChambeau explained at Maridoe Golf Club near Dallas, the site of last year’s LIV Golf Team Championship.

The Ryder Cup, one of golf’s most prestigious team competitions, pits the best American players against Europe’s finest in a three-day event filled with passion, patriotism, and world-class golf. While Trump’s attendance has generated excitement among Team USA members, not everyone shares their enthusiasm. According to the report, at least one European Ryder Cup player was unimpressed, dismissing Trump as “just another spectator.” This mixed reaction highlights the sometimes complicated intersection of sports, entertainment, and politics that has become increasingly common in recent years.

As the golf world turns its attention to Bethpage Black for this highly anticipated competition, Trump’s presence adds another layer of intrigue to the event. For players like DeChambeau, who have openly embraced their association with the former president, it represents an opportunity to draw energy from what will undoubtedly be a charged atmosphere. For others, it may be a distraction from the pure sporting contest that the Ryder Cup represents. Regardless of individual perspectives, when the first shots are struck early Friday morning, all eyes will be on the golf course as Team USA begins its quest to reclaim the Ryder Cup from their European rivals.
