Kandula’s journey from St. Louis to the gates of the White House began with a one-way flight to Dulles International Airport on the day of the attack. Just after 9:30 p.m., he intentionally crashed the truck into the security barriers protecting the White House and President’s Park, scattering pedestrians in his path. The truck, disabled after a second impact with the barriers, began to smoke and leak fluids. Kandula then exited the vehicle, brandishing a Nazi flag, a stark symbol of his extremist ideology.
