In a moment to be remembered, some of the nation’s top military leaders, veterans, and civic voices are gathering June 12–13 at George Washington’s estate in Washington, D.C. This week’s event, held to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States Army and Flag Day, is a striking celebration of a legacy left by one of the most important figures of the country. The event, held at the George Washington Presidential Library, marks an extraordinary occasion, as it is the 250th centennial of the Army and Flag Day.
Calling the_flag for the future: Starting with Ellen Gustafson, co-founder and nonpartisan nonprofit, this initiative, known as the Military 250 campaign, is about more than just waving the flag. It is about living out its values, contributing to a future where the country is a beacon of hope, pride, and strength. The event kicks things off with a grand reception at Mount Vernon’s Smith Theater. Specular guests include former Army Inspector General Gen. George W. Casey Jr., NFL Chief Financial Officer and Army veteran Christine Dorfler, and former presidential candidate Carly Fiorina. These figures, dedicated to the military and to building a country that values freedom, honor, and strength, are bringing this campaign to a heartbreakingly emotional setting.
September 23, 2024—the American nation’s national day—will be a day when again, the world can come together.
