From Runaway to Romance: The Extraordinary Journey of Roshin Ali and Tyler Schrupp

In a tale that seems straight from a heartwarming movie, Roshin Ali’s life journey took an unexpected and beautiful turn when she fell in love with Tyler Schrupp, the very police officer who had once been assigned to search for her when she ran away from home as a teenager. What began as a harrowing escape from an abusive household evolved into a story of resilience, coincidence, and ultimately love that spans a 15-year arc. Their unique love story recently captured public attention when Ali, now 28, shared it on TikTok, garnering over 5 million views. While some viewers initially misinterpreted their relationship, the reality of their connection is far more profound and meaningful than any social media speculation could suggest.

The origins of their story trace back to 2010 in Jackson, Tennessee, where 13-year-old Roshin Ali lived in fear of her father, a gambling addict who kept his children isolated and subjected them to regular abuse. The breaking point came when her father returned home after losing all his money and threatened to kill Ali and her siblings after catching them outside the house. What followed was a scene of terror: Ali’s sister holding a bedroom door shut with her back while their father attempted to stab through it; her sister being dragged away and beaten with a cable wire, her screams silenced by duct tape; and their mother’s chilling warning to Ali and her brother: “Y’all are next.” Facing imminent danger, the young siblings made a desperate escape through their bedroom window and fled to a nearby park, setting in motion a chain of events that would eventually lead the police to intervene.

Tyler Schrupp was one of the officers assigned to locate the missing children after their father reported them missing. Although Ali and her brother were found the following day and placed in foster care along with their older siblings, Schrupp never actually met Ali during the investigation. Looking back on this pivotal moment, Ali reflected, “I truly believe if it was not me running away from the house that day and officers being involved, I don’t think that we’d still be here alive.” This escape proved to be not just a temporary reprieve but a crucial intervention that potentially saved the siblings from continued abuse. Meanwhile, the parents spent only “a couple of days” in jail after Ali’s sister reported the assault, but the children were placed in foster care, giving them a chance at a safer life.

Twelve years would pass before fate brought Ali and Schrupp together again, this time under entirely different circumstances. Ali, now an adult, had secured a position at the sheriff’s department where Schrupp worked. Though he had no idea she was the same girl he had once searched for, Schrupp was immediately drawn to her. “He wouldn’t stop staring at me, but literally wouldn’t say a word at all,” Ali told The Post, while Schrupp admitted, “I thought she was very beautiful, which is why I was kind of nervous to talk to her.” Once they began conversing, they felt an immediate connection, which eventually led Ali to share the traumatic experiences of her youth. As they discussed her past, they began piecing together the dates and details, leading to the astonishing realization that their paths had crossed years before. “That’s when I started to be like, ‘Okay, I was a part of that. It’s crazy that back then I was looking for you, and now we’re sitting here talking,'” Schrupp recalled of the moment they made the connection.

What began as workplace acquaintances blossomed into a deep relationship, one built on genuine understanding and shared values. Their connection strengthened over time, eventually leading to the birth of their son, who is now five months old. In August 2024, the couple got engaged, planning to formalize their commitment with a wedding ceremony next year. When Ali shared a snippet of their story on TikTok in July—a simple video showing her shaking hands with Schrupp and describing him as an “officer who went searching for me while missing”—she had no idea it would attract millions of views and spark intense speculation. Some commenters jumped to disturbing conclusions, suggesting Schrupp had “groomed” her or even kept her “in his basement” all these years. This prompted Ali, who goes by Roro Nicole on social media, to share the full story in a four-part video series, detailing the harrowing circumstances of her childhood and the genuine nature of their relationship that developed between two adults much later.

Their story resonates deeply with many who encounter it, touching on themes of fate, healing, and the unexpected ways life can bring people together. “Somebody said he’s my hero,” Ali shared, adding simply, “And he is.” Their journey reflects how life’s most traumatic moments can sometimes lead to its greatest blessings, how people placed in our paths at difficult times might return when we least expect them, and how healing can come in forms we never anticipated. As they prepare for their wedding next year, Ali and Schrupp carry with them not only their individual histories but a shared story that reminds us of life’s capacity for remarkable coincidence and redemption. Their relationship stands as testimony to the resilience of the human spirit and the healing power of genuine connection—proving that sometimes, finding true love means first finding the courage to escape what hurts us, even when the path forward seems uncertain.
