A Thousand Residents Of Estepona And Benahavís Can Now Return To Their Homes

More than a thousand people evicted from their homes due to the forest fire in Sierra Bermeja, declared last Thursday, can now return to their homes. Specifically, these are those of the Forest Hill and Abejeras urbanizations in Estepona and the Montemayor urbanization in Benahavís.

This was announced this Sunday by the Minister of the Presidency, Public Administration and Interior of the Junta de Andalucía, Elías Bendodo, together with the holder of Sustainable Development, Carmen Crespo, who have specified that the southern perimeter of the fire is “practically stabilized and allow the relocation now. ” The residents will return accompanied by firefighters from the Provincial Council of the Provincial Council, who will monitor the area.

In their intervention, both Bendodo and Crespo and the director of the Regional Operational Center, Juan Sánchez, thanked the work of the troops deployed against this “unusual force” fire: “It is an unprecedented fire in our country.”

In this sense, in addition to the work of Infoca, to which it has shown “all its support and commitment”, it has highlighted the work of the State Security Forces and Bodies, GREA, 112, the Military Emergency Unit and practically all the autonomous communities that are supporting Andalusia with different types of means.
