Elisabeth Moss has embarked on an exciting new chapter with her upcoming series Imperfect Women, the eighth season of Apple TV+’s series based on the novel of the same name. Starting the project six seasons after wrapping up The Handmaid’s Tale, Moss has taken on the role of executive producer and star.
As informed in a press release from Apple, Moss shared that the series will explore a crime that erases the.username of three women’s lives, known as the “imperfect family” that falters over time. Moss, known for her unique style of storytelling and her association with Handmaid’s Tale, reflects on this journey:
“The path to Imperfect Women was an honor. It was an electrifying read; I fell in love with it immediately. I’ve admired the productions of key actors like Kerry Washington for years, and it felt really special that they were the first to respond when the material reached my attention. This project is not a joke, and the cast is substantial.”
In addition to the film, Moss hinted at potential future spin-offs, such as a spin on The Handmaid’s Tale in the coming months. The series will follow the investigation of a crime that not only examines guilt and betrayal but also explores the complications that change people’s lives irrevocably. It’ll be an exploration of how even the closest relationships can be broken, and the role of perspective in uncovering the truth.
For the executive producer, Moss personally notes, “ distribution has been a great opportunity; it solidified the vibe of the show.” The show is also set to be adapted from The Handmaid’s Tale by Mellon screenwriter Annie Weisman, with executive producer Lindsey McManus, Pilar Savone, and持ie Hall behind the camera.
