Christy Goldsmith Romero, one of the four commissioners of the Cathom Reflection Trading Commission (CFTC), has announced her departure from the agency at the end of the month. She will join Mercurian Summer Mersinger, who has been named the new CEO of the Blockchain Association, a Washington, D.C.-based lobbying group dedicated to advancing the cryptocurrency industry.
Goldsmith Romero’s announcement comes as part of her tenure on the CFTC, during which she had served approximately two years. In her speech, Goldsmith also highlighted her sponsorship of the Technology Advisory Committee (TAC) by owning it, which she had led to produce landmark reports and fostered public forums on critical issues such as Responsible AI in Financial Markets, Decentralized Finance, and other related topics. These efforts underscored the agency’s role in shaping the future of financial markets.
To further solidify her leadership, Goldsmith indicated that she would continue to support TAC’s efforts to address key financial challenges. The intention was to ensure the agency remains forward-looking and continues to empower the financial sector.
