Singapore has signed onto a law that designates four individuals—Robert Ng, the chairman of the Hong Kong-listed Sino Group, and his three sons—as “politically significant persons,” under the aim of curbing foreign influence in the city-state. A statement from the Ministry of Home Affairs published on Monday clarified that the purposes behind the designations are not due to the individuals having engaged in egregious activities. Instead, they are intended to identify groups that maintain political ties with foreign entities, not individuals.

Ng, a 72-year-old Singaporean, became famous for his role as the eldest son of late Ng Teng Fong, who jumped from China to Singapore in 1934. He is known for his architectural brilliance and for his work in developing some of the oldest shopping malls in Singapore’s area. His family, which also controls Far East Organization, Singapore’s leading private landlords and property developer, operates under the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.

The three sons of Robert Ng are not mentioned specifically, but it is clear that Robert retains close ties with foreign political entities. Singapore’s law mandates that individuals who receive political donations exceeding S$10,000 (approx $7,427) must disclose those donations in their public statements and official records. This operation reflects Singapore’s commitment to ensuring that its花朵 merupakan真实和客观的反映,但我们始终记得,无论外面多么谨慎,我们守护的始终是真实和客观。
