Cardano at a Crossroads: Analyst Sees Four Warning Signs and a Possible Drop to $0.12
Cardano has been stuck in a precarious spot for weeks, and one cryptocurrency analyst believes the charts are pointing to more pain ahead. In a recent technical breakdown, analyst Crypto Tice highlighted four warning signals that could spell trouble for ADA, the native token of the Cardano blockchain. The most striking call in the analysis is a potential Wyckoff distribution pattern that may indicate larger market participants are quietly selling their holdings into strength. At a time when the broader crypto market remains sensitive to macro uncertainty, these signals have drawn attention from traders looking for clues about whether Cardano is building a base — or preparing for another leg down. With ADA already trading below key moving averages and struggling to hold onto short-term support, the analyst’s assessment paints a picture of a token that is not yet out of the woods.
The first signal centers on a Wyckoff distribution pattern that Crypto Tice identified in Phase C. For those unfamiliar with Wyckoff analysis, it is a method of reading price action by studying the behavior of large institutional investors, often referred to as “smart money.” In this framework, a distribution phase marks a transition in which assets are passed from stronger holders to weaker buyers, often before a significant price decline. Phase C typically represents a moment of apparent stability before the market becomes vulnerable to a breakdown. Crypto Tice sees this pattern forming on Cardano’s daily chart and interprets it as a sign that large players could be unloading their positions. However, the chart pattern alone does not offer definitive proof that institutional selling is taking place. In technical analysis, distribution patterns are frequently subjective, and the same structure can sometimes resolve into a continuation or even a reversal depending on broader market conditions. Still, the warning is notable because it suggests that ADA’s recent price action is consistent with a supply-heavy environment, where rallies are met with selling pressure rather than accumulation.
The second signal is Cardano’s position relative to its 200-day exponential moving average, a widely monitored gauge of long-term trend strength. According to the analysis, ADA is currently trading below this crucial indicator, which sits at $0.2385. In traditional market analysis, a sustained move below the 200-day EMA is considered bearish because it implies that the prevailing price trend over the medium-to-long term has turned negative. For Cardano, remaining under this level means that the token has failed to reclaim a benchmark that many institutional traders use to separate bull markets from bear markets. Until ADA can climb back above this moving average, the broader momentum remains weak, and any rallies are likely to be viewed with skepticism. Crypto Tice emphasized that reclaiming the 200-day EMA would be necessary to generate any meaningful sign of recovery. Without that move, the technical backdrop continues to favor sellers.
The third warning signal is the daily chart’s structure of lower highs and lower lows, a hallmark of a downtrend in technical analysis. Cardano has repeatedly failed to push back toward previous resistance around $0.28, while each bounce appears to be followed by a deeper pullback. This sequence of lower highs and lower lows indicates that selling pressure is consistently entering the market at progressively lower price points. In effect, the rallies are getting weaker, and the selloffs are getting more severe. Chart annotations from the analysis illustrate how ADA has been trapped in this downward rhythm, unable to build upward momentum. This pattern is important because it shows that the recent price movement is not simply a temporary dip within a larger bullish structure, but rather a more persistent decline where bears have maintained control. For traders, a downtrend structure often prompts caution, especially when combined with other bearish indicators such as moving averages and volume imbalances.
The fourth signal relates to trading volume, and it may be the most concerning of the group. Crypto Tice noted that over the past 20 days, volume on down days has been 2.2 times higher than volume on up days. This means that selling participation has significantly outweighed buying interest during the same period. In technical analysis, volume is often used to confirm the strength of a move. When a market falls on elevated volume and rises on weak volume, it suggests that sellers are more aggressive while buyers remain hesitant. This imbalance reinforces the bearish outlook by showing that declines are attracting more activity than recoveries. Should this trend continue, it could create a self-reinforcing cycle in which lower prices bring out more selling, making it even harder for Cardano to stage a sustained rebound. While volume patterns can shift quickly, the current data paints a clear picture of a market where fear is outweighing conviction.
At the time of the analysis, Cardano was changing hands at approximately $0.2080, well below the 200-day EMA and inside a marked price range between $0.1938 and $0.2565. Crypto Tice acknowledged that there was a potential counterargument to his bearish outlook: ADA was testing a rising trendline that had attracted four separate price touches. If buyers step in to defend this trendline, it could provide a floor and interrupt the ongoing decline. However, he maintained that the broader bearish outlook would remain intact while ADA continues to trade below $0.2452. That level is viewed as a critical threshold, and a failure to reclaim it could leave the cryptocurrency vulnerable to further losses. Under this scenario, the analyst identified $0.1204 as the next major downside target. A move from $0.2080 to $0.1204 would represent a decline of roughly 42.1%, a substantial drawdown that would take Cardano back to price levels not seen since November 2020. Importantly, even during Cardano’s sharp correction earlier this year, the token only fell to $0.1384 in June before rebounding. A move to $0.12 would therefore mark a clean break below that previous low and open a new chapter of weakness for the asset.
Crypto Tice is not the only analyst warning about the potential for further downside in Cardano. In recent weeks, several other market commentators have offered projections that align with the bearish narrative. Analyst Kevin Mercer recently highlighted a zigzag price pattern that could initially send ADA toward $0.15 before a potential rebound to $0.27. Meanwhile, stake pool operator Sssebi also anticipated a possible dip followed by a recovery this week. These projections underscore the growing uncertainty surrounding Cardano’s near-term price direction, with traders closely watching key support and resistance levels. However, it is important to remember that such forecasts are speculative rather than guaranteed outcomes. The cryptocurrency market is notoriously volatile, and Cardano could just as easily rebound if buyers defend the trendline and push the token back above the $0.2452 threshold. As with any market analysis, these warnings are valuable tools for understanding risk, but they should not be treated as certainties. Investors are advised to consider multiple perspectives, manage their exposure carefully, and avoid relying on any single analyst’s forecast when making financial decisions. For now, all eyes remain on Cardano’s ability to hold its current support — or fail, and trigger the next phase of the decline.
